Byodo-In Temple Hawaii Fine Art Print - 'Mystic Journey'
Original photograph of the stunning Byodo-In Temple, in Oahu, Hawaii
Captured in 2015 by Washington DC based photographer K. Noelle.
Hidden within the Valley of the Temples in the Koolau Mountains rests this delightful Buddhist temple. Hawaii has been heavily influenced by Asian cultures, and this temple is actually a mini version of the original Byodo-In temple in Uji, Japan. The original temple is nearly 1,000 years old and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temple on Oahu was built in 1968 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to the Hawaiian Islands.
I was awed by this temple and the energy surrounding it. Situated in the dramatically lush mountain base and surrounded by a cloudy haze, it almost felt mystic.
